Amex Resy Credit Rules Are Live: Check Eligible Restaurants
American Express tightened the rules for its Resy credits starting today, August 1, 2026. Going forward, simply being listed on Resy is no longer enough. Restaurants and other food-and-beverage establishments must now be specifically marked as eligible for the credit on their Resy booking page at the time of purchase.
The good news is that the initial impact appears to be fairly limited. NextCard reviewed roughly 10,000 U.S. Resy locations and identified 214 restaurants that currently do not qualify. That means the overwhelming majority of venues remain eligible, at least for now. You can see the full map here.
How to Tell if a Restaurant Qualifies
Eligible restaurant pages now display a badge stating that the venue qualifies for the Resy Credit. If that badge does not appear, the restaurant should be treated as ineligible even though it is still listed and bookable through Resy.
The exact language is “This venue currently qualifies for the Resy Credit, a benefit for select American Express® Card Members.”
That distinction is easy to miss because ineligible pages do not display a clear warning. They simply omit the eligibility badge. For example, Barra in Somerville is listed on Resy but does not qualify.
Amex’s updated terms state that eligibility is determined at the time of purchase and can change at any time. That means that cardholders should check the restaurant’s Resy page before paying, even if they have successfully used the credit there in the past.
New Map Shows Eligible and Ineligible Resy Restaurants
NextCard has launched an interactive Resy Restaurant Map that makes it easier to check which locations qualify. The tool maps U.S. Resy restaurants and lets users search by city, eligibility, cuisine, ratings and other filters.
The map also includes a gift card filter for restaurants that sell gift cards through Toast. That can be useful for cardholders looking to use an expiring Resy credit, although gift card purchases are not guaranteed to trigger the benefit. The charge must still be processed directly by an eligible establishment in a way that American Express recognizes as qualifying.
NextCard currently lists 214 ineligible restaurants, including several locations in New York City, Brooklyn, New Jersey, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and other major markets. The list is marked as current as of August 1 and may change as restaurants are added or removed.
Which Amex Cards Have Resy Credits?
The updated eligibility requirement affects cards that provide Resy statement credits. The full list of eligible cards includes:
- Gold Card – Up to $100 credit annually ($50 semi-annually)
- Platinum Card – Up to $400 credit annually ($100 quarterly)
- Delta Platinum – Up to $120 credit annually ($10 monthly)
- Delta Platinum Business – Up to $120 credit annually ($10 monthly)
- Delta Reserve – Up to $240 credit annually ($20 monthly)
- Delta Reserve Business – Up to $240 credit annually ($20 monthly)
- Centurion Card – Up to $1,000 credit annually ($250 quarterly)
- Business Centurion Card – Up to $1,000 credit annually ($250 quarterly)
The amount and frequency of the credit vary by card, but the same basic rules now applies. You must enroll and the restaurant must display the qualifying Resy Credit badge when the purchase is made.

When Amex first announced this change, it looked like it could be a significant devaluation. American Express later said that “we have added a Resy Credit eligible badge to Resy venues pages to provide additional clarity to diners at the time of booking. We have not removed Resy venues that are eligible today and will be adding more eligible venues later this year when Tock venues become bookable on Resy”.
For now, the impact is limited to just over 2% of merchants, with just over 200 restaurants already excluded.
Still, the benefit is less straightforward than it was before. Cardholders can no longer assume that every restaurant listed on Resy will qualify. Check for the badge before dining or buying a gift card, and consider taking a screenshot in case the eligibility label changes before the credit posts.
