Amex Membership Rewards Transfer Bonus for JetBlue
The American Express Membership Rewards program is one of the most valuable points currencies, mainly because of its multiple airline and hotel travel partners. While the points can be converted to cash with a value 0.6 cents, 1 cent, and even 1.1 cents each, the best value is when transferring to partners.

You must enroll in JetBlue’s TrueBlue program in order to participate in this offer. Once you have transferred Membership Rewards points, they become subject to the Terms and Conditions of the TrueBlue program and cannot be transferred back to your Membership Rewards program account.
Keep in mind that every time you transfer points into a U.S. airline frequent flyer program, your linked card account will be charged an excise tax offset fee of $0.0006 per point (with a maximum fee of $99). So if you transfer 100,000 points, you would pay $60 in fees. You may also use points to pay this fee.
Generally, transfers are immediate but in some very rare cases it might take up to 72 hours for the transfer to be completed.
Should You Transfer Amex Points to JetBlue?
This is a question that you must always ask yourself when you see these transfer bonuses. I always suggest not to transfer points speculatively, because once you transfer, there’s no going back.
The answer to that question also depends on your own needs, and the valuation you have for American Express Membership Rewards and JetBlue TrueBlue points.
In this case you’re not getting any outsized value for transferring Amex points to JetBlue. You start off at a disadvantage, since the regular ratio is 250 to 200. So the 10% transfer bonus doesn’t even bring the transfer ratio on par with Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi ThankYou Rewards that have a ongoing transfer ratio of 1:1.
JetBlue’s award flight pricing is dynamic and closely matches the cash price of the flight, although not at a fixed value. That means that there are no hidden gems. You will normally get a value between 1.2 and 1.4 cents per points, and maybe higher for Mint.
JetBlue Plus or JetBlue Premier cardholders can get a bit more value out of their points. The card comes with a benefits that refunds you 10% or 15% of all redemptions. You receive that refund after completing your JetBlue award flight.
You can use JetBlue TrueBlue points to book flights on JetBlue-operated flights and several partner airlines, including United Airlines, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Icelandair, Hawaiian Airlines, and4 Cape Air.
Amex JetBlue Transfer Bonus: Guru’s Wrap-up
This is a rare bonus, but that still doesn’t make it very exciting. Normally you can transfer 250 Amex points to 200 JetBlue points. But now Amex Membership Rewards is offering a 10% bonus, which still doesn’t quite get you to 1:1.
If you fly JetBlue frequently, then there’s nothing wrong with transferring points, and flying for “free”. This may be slightly better than cashing out your points, and it’s even better if you get a rebate with your JetBlue cards. But it’s not a great deal by any stretch of the imagination. Plus you can transfer 1:1 to JetBlue from other programs.
