Amazon has launched a new Shop with Points promotion for Citi ThankYou cardholders. This is not as good as the offers we see for Amex and Discover cards, and at best it gets you $30 in savings for 2,500 points. Let’s see the details.
Offer Details
Customers with an eligible Citi CashCard who redeem Citi ThankYou Points to pay for all or a portion of eligible purchases on Amazon during the promotional period will receive an automatic award of an Amazon Gift Card to their linked Amazon account 30 days after completion of the following:
- Redeem 2,500 Points for $20 and get $10 Amazon Gift Card.
- Redeem 15,625 Points for $125 and get $15 Amazon Gift Card.

Important Terms
- This is a limited time offer. The promotion runs on a reoccurring calendar year ending on December 31 at 11:59 PM PT. Amazon reserves the right to cancel or modify this offer at any time without notice. The promotion will expire concurrently with expiration or cancellation of the offer.
- This promotion is available only to Amazon.com customers with an eligible Citi Thank You Rewards Account. Offer is only eligible to customers who redeem Points for eligible purchases made on the U.S. Amazon Site using either their Citi Double Cash Card or Citi Custom Cash Card (collectively, “Citi Cash Cards”).
- This offer is only available on eligible products. Eligible products are items that can be purchased using Shop with Points at checkout for this promotion. Not all products on Amazon.com are eligible. See Shop with Points Restrictions.
- Customers are eligible to receive both a $10 Amazon Gift Card and a $15 Amazon Gift Card per calendar year if they meet the respective point redemption thresholds.
- Customer is only eligible to receive one $10 Amazon Gift Card and one $15 Amazon Gift Card per calendar year.
- Customers can review redemption activity and offer status via the Your Account Page.

Only the first part of the promotion is worth considering, and even that one is not that great. You need to redeem 2,500 Citi ThankYou points for a $20 discount on your Amazon purchase, and you will get a $10 Amazon gift card.
So you’re basically redeeming 2,500 points for $30. That’s a value of 1.2 cents per points. Not great and not terrible. Could be worth it if you just have a few points left in your Citi account. The second part of the offer gets you less than 1 cent per point.
