Beginning in 2026, there will be no limit on the number of status points earned in a calendar year.

Bank of America Application Rules

  • There’s no hard limit on the number of Bank of America credit cards that you can have at one time. But as most other banks, there’s a total credit limit that the bank is willing to extend to you based on your stated income, credit score and other factors. If you hit that limit, then you might need to move credit around to get approved for new credit cards.
  • Bank of America has a 2/3/4 rule. That means that there’s a limit of two cards in the last two months, three cards in the last 12 months, and four cards in the last 24 months. This applies to Bank of America cards only.
  • Then there’s a 3/12 or 7/12 rule, which applies to all newly opened cards. 3/12 is for those who don’t have a Bank of America deposit account, and 7/12 for those with a deposit account. So if you have a Bank of America checking account, you will only be declined for a new cards if you already have a total of 7 new cards in the last 12 months.
  • It’s possible that they merge multiple applications in the same day into just one hard pull.

Guru’s Wrap-up

I believe this is the best public bonus we have see for the Alaska Airlines Card. You get 70,000 miles and a $100 credit after you spend $3,000 in 90 days. The credit takes care of the annual fee which was recently increased from $75 to $95.

The card now has some new 2x categories and extra benefits. But the free checked bag benefits now applies only to tickets paid with the Alaska Airlines credit card. Some of these changes will go into effect for current cardholders in March.
