Verizon Visa Card Review

Verizon and Synchrony Bank have partnered together to launch the new Verizon Visa Card. The card is exclusively available to Verizon wireless customers starting this Friday, June 26. The Verizon Visa Card gives Verizon customers the chance to earn generous rewards in popular categories. But the main drawback of this product is that rewards can only be redeemed for Verizon purchases.

Applying for the Card

The Verizon Visa Card is available for Verizon Wireless account owners or manager on an account with a maximum of 10 phone lines. If you have a Verizon wireless account with more than 10 phone lines or a prepaid account, you’re not eligible to apply.

The card also makes sense only for Verizon customers. So even if you were allowed to apply, there’s no incentive to do so. If you cancel your Verizon plan, you’ll no longer earn rewards, discounts  or Verizon Dollars with the credit card. You can still keep using it with no rewards.

Customers can apply now until June 25 at 9 p.m. ET to receive early access to the card. You can apply online, in the My Verizon App, in-store or by phone. Visit verizon.com/bethefirst. Additionally, Verizon is dividing up $1 million Verizon Dollars equally among cardholders approved during the early access window. You can receive up to $1,000 Verizon Dollars.

Signup Bonus

Use the Verizon Visa Card to pay your monthly Verizon bill, and get up to $100 in wireless bill credits over 24 consecutive months. The credit is applied to your bill over 24 consecutive billing cycles. That’s a credit of $4.17 credit per monthly bill.

Earning Structure

The Verizon Visa Card has a very competitive earning structure, especially for a no-annual-fee card.

  • 4% back on gas and groceries
  • 3% back on dining
  • 2% back on Verizon purchases
  • 1% back on everything else

Other Benefits

  • No foreign transaction fees.
  • Get a discount of up to $10 a month when you sign up for AutoPay with your Verizon Visa card.

Verizon Dollars

The Verizon card has a unique rewards program that is severely limited in use. The rewards you earn are called Verizon Dollars, and they can only be redeemed for Verizon purchases. You can use your Verizon Dollars to purchase new devices, accessories or to pay your monthly Verizon Wireless or Fios bill.

One Verizon Dollar is worth $1. There’s no limit on the Verizon Dollars that you can earn and they never expire.

Annual Fee

This card does not have an annual fee.

  1. This looks extremely enticing for Verizon customers. The fact you can use Verizon dollars to pay your monthly bill makes it almost as good as cash in my opinion. If you’re going to be paying your bill anyway, any rewards you apply to your bill essentially save you from paying for it out your bank account so it’s the same thing really. The only real downside is not having any rewards if you leave Verizon. But, being the most reliable provider, I don’t see myself doing that anyway. Count me in.
