LaGuardia airport is not the easiest airport to get to in NYC. There’s no subway that takes you there, so you have to either rely on taxis and rideshares, or even worse, buses. All of those options will get you stuck in traffic. And that traffic is even more horrendous now with all the construction going on in the area.
While I have no solution how to make your trip to LaGuardia quicker, there is a less expensive option. Rideshare company Via is now offering $15 flat-rate rides from LaGuardia to Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, and $20 to Staten Island and the Bronx.
Travelers can either use the Via app and select “LGA Connect,” or go to the dedicated LGA Connect pickup point outside of Terminal C/D in a special zone of the ride-hail lot. They promise to have plenty of in-airport signage to help you find it.
Riders will then share a car with up to 5 other people who are heading in a similar direction, and will get dropped off a few blocks from home. The service runs from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m., and each ride will depart within 10 minutes of booking. That’s an important note, as Via is usually slower at bringing you a car compared to Ubwer and Lyft.
If you have never used the app, you can download it here and use my referral code danny7r4dadada to get a $20 signup bonus. Via is currently available only in NYC, Chicago and Washington. It works the same way as Uber and Lyft, but only within the eligible areas.
