Sakura Card Offer for Easy $200 Was Too Good and True!
I wrote about a month ago of an offer from Sakura, a company aiming to provide credit to small business owners and entrepreneurs. They were promising to give out a card preloaded with $200, plus an option to get $50 more for filling out a survey. You can see that offer here. It is no longer available.
Many people were skeptical obviously as the offer sounded too good to be true. But the company seemed legit and the cofounder had been part of other startups in the past.
To get the bonus, you needed to submit your social security number, copy of your ID and some basic information about yourself and your business. I contacted the co-founder which explained the offer this way:
At this time, the Sakura Prepaid Visa card comes with $200 preloaded onto the card, but is only available to current business owners, or people who attest and have a genuine intent and to start their own business. People who are approved for the card have the opportunity to spend the funds on the card on legitimate business purchases, and then link a bank account to reload the card should they so chose.
In the coming months, we will start offering a line of credit for new and aspiring business owners. We see the $200 as a promotional amount for what we hope is a long-term relationship between the small business and ourselves (also a small business!)
I decided to go through with it, and luckily the offer turned out to be real. It took longer than expected, but I finally received an email that my account was approved after more than two weeks. Then a few days letter I received my Sakura card in the mail.
I logged in to check my account, and surely the card was loaded with $200.
I haven’t seen yet the survey that was supposed to be another bonus of $50. Maybe that comes later after using the card.
We’ll see how Sakura proceeds from here and how useful this Sakura Visa card will be. I hope they come through with the extra $50 bonus as well.
Did any of you apply? Have you received the card? Let me know!
