Kroger Ends Visa Credit Cards Ban

Kroger has reversed a ban on Visa credit cards and will now accept them at all locations. The Cincinnati, Ohio-based grocer stopped accepting Visa credit cards last year at its Foods Co. subsidiary in California. It then went even further, by expanding the ban to in April at 142 Smith’s Food and Drug Stores and 108 fuel centers in seven states, citing what it called “excessive fees.”

That was still just a fraction of the  2,800 food stores run by Kroger under brand names including King Scoopers, Harris Teeter, Fred Meyer and Ralphs. But was a big blow to those who were affected by the ban.

A banner on Smith’s website confirms that the ban has been removed. You can once again use a Visa credit card at all of their locations.
