American Express reached out today to let me know about some small changes coming to two Hilton cards. They also revealed that some increased bonuses are coming this summer, but no details or dates were provided.
The first change is a bit strange. Beginning July 18, 2019, the Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card will once again be known as the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass Card. That’s just a year after the Surpass card was discontinued in favor of the Ascend card. The change is probably because of the confusing names that the Hilton cards have. One is just Hilton, and then we have the Hilton Ascend and Hilton Aspire. Now we’ll have Hilton, Hilton Surpass and Hilton Aspire. A bit better. Nothing else changes besides the name.
Then the second change has to do with the Aspire card. No the name is not changing, but these some minor changes to its benefits. Starting August 1, Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card Members can continue to use their $250 Resort Statement Credit benefit for purchases made with participating resort properties for all rates, except when booking an Advanced Purchase rate.. All other Hilton rates remain eligible for the $250 Resort Credit benefit for purchases made with participating resort properties. This probably doesn’t affect many people.
