Another Round Of BlueBird/Serve Shutdowns

It’s been a while since the last time I wrote about Bluebird and Serve cards. My own cards were shutdown a few years ago. Now it seems there’s a new round of emails, telling people that their cards have been frozen.

Here’s the text of the email:

Guru’s Wrap-Up

These prepaid cards were a great manufactured spending tool but many people have long been shutdown. It seems that Amex is still going after those with “unusual usage patterns”.

Does anyone still have a functioning card?

  1. I was shut down yesterday after surviving the earlier shutdowns. I was loading $3000 – $4000 monthly for a couple of years and shopping, paying bills, and taking out cash. I had neither loaded the card nor taken out cash for the last 3-4 weeks, but only used it for bill pay and store purchases. It was great while it lasted. I may try to get another one next week.
