American Airlines announced today that it will cancel 115 flights a day through mid-August because of the issues with the Boeing 737 Max.
The announcement made American the second major carrier to cancel Max flights through the busy summer. Southwest Airlines, the largest operator of Boeing jets, announced last week that it would cancel its Max flights through 5 August.
American Airlines will cancel all 737 Max flights through 19 August.
The US and other countries grounded Boeing’s 737 Max plane in mid-March after deadly crashes in Ethiopia and Indonesia.
American had previously announced that it would cancel the flights through June. But now it has extended the cancellations for two more months so it can better plan for peak travel in the summer.
