The new Amex Gold card came out late last year. It is a great product and an enhancement from the previous version. It earns 4X at restaurants, which is probably the best rate out there if you value Membership Rewards. It also earns 4X at supermarkets, a rate only topped by a couple of cards. You can read my review here.
It also comes with a 50K bonus. However, if you have had the Amex Premier Rewards Gold card in the past you will not be eligible to get the signup bonus on the new Amex Gold Card.
But American Express is sending out emails with the same public offer for the new Amex Gold card. It’s also showing up online for some people in thge Amex Offers sections. One great thing about these mailers is that they do not have the lifetime language. That means that even if you have had the Amex Premier Rewards Gold card in the past you will still be eligible to get the signup bonus on the new Amex Gold Card.
Earn 50,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $2,000 on purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months of Card Membership.
Annual fee for the American Express® Gold Card is $250.
You can check this link to see if you are eligible for the offer. Just make sure you double check the terms on your own offer. If you see ‘Offer no longer available’ it means that you are not targeted.
If you’ve never had the Premier Rewards Gold card, then you can just apply for the new Amex Gold Card without worries, plus you can get a referral bonus. But those who are not eligible for a bonus have a great opportunity through this offer. Make sure to double check that your offer doesn’t contain the lifetime language. Sadly the rose gold option is no longer available, so you have to settle for a gold card.
Let me know if you get the offer.
