Conclusion

While many foreign carriers offer perks and discounts for their travelers outside the airport, most American airlines have not joined in. Getting a 20% or 30% discount on museums, activities, restaurants etc, should yield decent savings especially for larger families or groups. It could even be worth asking your airline when you book a flight if your boarding pass provides any bonuses.
