There’s a new airline in Europe. The small country of Albania in the Balkans will now have its own Airline, are Albania. It will be the nation’s flag carrier as until now they’ve only had a small Albanian owned airline, AlbaWings. The airline had been announced months ago, but a new plane was officially unveiled last week.
The new Airline is an investment from Turkish Airlines will own 49% of the airlines 30 million-dollar capital. 51% will be owned by the government and Albanian investors. It’s not clear whether you’ll be able to earn Turkish Airlines miles Air Albania flights.
Albania, is a small country in the Adriatic and Ionian sea. It sits next to some of the biggest European destinations. It’s just across the water from Italy, a short drive from Croatia and borders Greece. It has a great Riviera similar to its neighbors.
The new Airline hasn’t announced any new routes yet but it will probably fly short routes in the Balkans first. There’s plenty of interesting destinations just an hour or two from Tirana Airport (TIA) which will be the airline’s home airport. It does have a Business Lounge that can be accessed by Priority Pass members. They also mention USA as a possible destination in the future.
Hopefully the new airline will provide some new cheap short flight options for moving around South Eastern Europe for now.
