Walmart has relaunched Jet.com with new features aimed at rivaling Amazon. Walmart acquired Jet.com in 2016 for $3.3 billion. The rebranded Jet.com is now focusing on appealing to shoppers in major metro cities like New York where their shopping experience will be tailored with localized imagery and messages, and, most importantly, three-hour deliveries. Deliveries in New York will be fulfilled through Parcel, the same-day, last-mile delivery company that Walmart acquired in 2017. They are also using Jet to entice millennials and young families with trendy, premium products like Big Gay Ice Cream and Dr. Martens shoes.
Products from local merchants and brands will also be featured, and Jet.com plans to offer same-day or next-day delivery of local and craft beer in New York and other big cities. The site will now be localized to the city where the shopper is and provide more brands and services that each customer can use.
