Amex Adds Aer Lingus to Membership Rewards Travel Partners

American Express and Aer Lingus announced today that Card Members enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program can soon transfer Membership Rewards® points to Avios with AerClub, the loyalty program of Aer Lingus, at a 1:1 ratio. The capability is rolling out in the U.S. at the end of this month (August 2018) and expanding in the U.K later in the year.

Aer Lingus joins 16 other participating frequent flyer programs, including Delta, British Airways, and Emirates. It has been a while since Amex added new transfer partners to its Membership Rewards® program. Etihad Guest was the last airline partner to be added in 2016.

Aer Lingus AerClub could be a useful option for transferring Membership Rewards points. You can fly to Dublin from several North American cities for just 13,000 Avios one-way in economy (off-peak season) or 50,000 Avios one-way in business. Fuel surcharges on Aer Lingus are not as high as British Airways.
