Back in February I wrote about the SPG annual category changes that took effect on March 6, 2018. A total of 276 SPG hotels should have changed categories, with 145 hotels getting more expensive and 131 hotels are getting less expensive.
But not all changes that were announced, have actually been implemented. Looks like some properties that were supposed to get more affordable haven’t changed and there’s at least one property that should have moved up a category, but did not. The page showing all changes was showing here last month, but has been removed.
Here’s some properties that hevnt gone through with the changes, as mentioned in this FlyerTalk thread:
- Glad Live in Seoul – was supposed to move from Cat 3 to Cat 2
- Glad Hotel in Seoul – was supposed to move from Cat 3 to Cat 2
- Sheraton Fuschlsee in Salzburg – was supposed to move from Cat 3 to Cat 2
- Great Northern Hotel in London – was supposed to move from Cat 5 to Cat 6
Let me know if you see any other properties that were supposed to change categories but didn’t.
When asked about these non-changes, an SPG representative gave the following explanation:
“Please note that category adjustments are always subject to change. While we make every attempt to provide you the latest and most accurate information, adjustments may be made at any time.”
