New Amex Platinum Perks Coming? (Rumor)

Almost a year ago American Express made some improvements to its Platinum cards. The annual fee was raised to $550 and the public signup bonus was raised to 60,000 Membership Rewards points. One of the new Amex Platinum perks was $200 in annual Uber credits, plus 5X points on airfare, 5X points on hotel bookings through amextravel.com, and more. Then they added free entry to Escape Lounges and access to Lufthansa Lounges.

Now it looks like there will be some more added perks. A OMAAT reader who works at a hotel that belongs to Fine Hotels & Resorts reports that Amex might soon introduce two new benefits:

  • 5x points on Fine Hotels & Resorts bookings with the Amex Platinum Card
  • Allowing Pay With Points to be used for Fine Hotels & Resorts bookings. Remember that with the personal version of the card you can only get up to one cent per point, but with the business version they offer up to a 35% on points redeemed back.

Fine Hotels & Resorts is an Amex program that gives you additional benefits at almost 1,000 luxury hotels around the world. One of the main benefits is a $100 credit once per stay, which is great for short stays.
