Maximizing The Offer
Office Depot and OfficeMax carry $200 Visa Gift Cards with a $6.95 fee. To qualify for the instant discount, you need to purchase two of these. That would cost you $413.90, but after $10 instant discount, your final cost will be $403.90. That’s a small loss of $3.90.
These deals are best when combined with a Chase Ink Cash/Bold/Plus credit card since they earn you 5X Ultimate Rewards at office supply stores. That gives you 1,995 UR points when purchasing two gift cards. You can also use a Amex SimplyCash Plus card which earns 5% cashback, or $19.95.
You can get another $4 total through their rewards program which gives you 2% back, but it’s capped at $200 per quarter.
There’s also an Amex Offer on a lot of business cards, and you can use it if you haven’t done so already. You could possibly split transaction on a few cards. In e perfect world, if you have the offer and are allowed to split it among 8 Amex Cards, you could get a $80 discount on two $200 Visa Gift Cards, besides the $10 instant rebate.
This is not the best deals that we see from Office Depot and OfficeMax, but it’s still a profitable promotion. If you have a location nearby, it’s worth a trip. 5X opportunities have been drying up, so these deals are some of the best opportunities if you need Ultimate Rewards.
