Guru’s Wrap-Up

A decent discount if you often shop at Newegg. You cannot use any promo code with this offer. If you’re interested, I would suggest buying sooner than later, but be warned that there’s been a few issues with these orders not being processed properly especially when being purchased with Groupon Gift Cards. See comments below and on Slickdeals thread.

The same offer is also available at LivingSocial.

  2. I really “hate” doing business with groupon, and will think long and hard before following you pied pipers for groupon. Yes, I followed doc’s encouragement several weeks ago to get two of these miserable groupon gc’s — I had intended to re-sell them, but you can’t check balances on them without loading them to a groupon account — and then you’ve “lost” your funds into the useless groupon account — can’t buy a well priced thing with groupon in my area. (have since learned local merchants here in my university town also despise and boycott groupon too) (reasons for fury #1 & #2)

Weeks later, this deal comes along seemingly nice for getting us the blazes out of groupon. But the transactions last night were royally screwed up. (#3….see the hundreds of posts on the sd thread) In my case, the transaction didn’t seem to go through…. mysteriously. I thought I’d used my $100 groupon for the purchase….. An hour later, I started thinking well, maybe it never went through. So I cued up the order again and it appeared the $100 groupon was still there….. so placed a new order, using the $100 groupon….. and yet again, no damned confirmation.

Ah, but morning comes, and I see I have two “vouchers” for the NewEgg $100 cards…. (and while they did drain the previous groupon gc, I see they made an unauthorized $100 charge on my saved credit card for the second voucher/gc …. grrrr…. #4)

So apart from trying to cancel the second order, what can I do with these new egg gift cards? Once I redeem the “vouchers” for them, do they actually have expiration dates on them? (making them impossible to resell? If so, grrrrr #4)

    🙂

    • I use Groupon often, and have rarely run into any issues. But I see that there’s a lot of issues with this offer.

I’ll add a warning to the post.
