American Express has brought back a great offer for adding Authorized Users on the personal Platinum Card. I saw the offer under the Amex Offers section in my account.
Amex Platinum Card Offer
Earn 5,000 bonus Membership Rewards points for each of the first four Additional Cards that you add through this email that spend $500 in their first 3 months, starting from the date that they are approved. Additional Cards must be added by October 20, 2017 to be eligible for this offer. The maximum bonus points you can earn through this offer is 20,000.
- Additional Cards must be added by October 20, 2017
- Both Additional Gold Cards and Additional Platinum Cards are eligible for this offer.
- The 5,000 bonus Membership Rewards points will be posted to the Basic Card Member’s account within 8–12 weeks after an Additional Card Member makes $500 in purchases.
- Your purchases as the Basic Card Member will not count toward the $500 spend requirement.
This is a great offer that gives you an extra 10X MR points on spending through additional cards, up to 20,000 MR points total. The only drawback is that you need to add Authorized Users and these additional cards will show up as another credit card on that person’s credit report.
3 Additional Platinum Cards will cost you $174 annually and each one after that will cost you an extra $175. But you can add Additional Gold Cards if you’re just going for the bonus MR points.
