You Can Now Buy Visa Gift Cards On Amazon

The title pretty much says it all. Amazon is now selling Visa gift cards, but even though that sounds pretty exciting, it has limited use for now. The only denominations they have are $50 and $100 and they come with $4.95 and $5.95 activation fees respectively. Those fees are 10% for the $50 VGC and 6% for the $100 VGC.

Amazon gift cards can’t be used to purchase these. The most profitable way would be to use a credit card that gets you 5% on Amazon purchases and also go through JetBlue Amazon portal to get 3x TrueBlue points. Credit cards that earn you 5x on Amazon purchase would be the Amazon Prime Store Card or Citi Forward if you already have one. Discover It and Chase Freedom also have Amazon as one of their 5% bonus categories occasionally. With Chase Freedom, it could make more sense, since that would be worth about 7-8% cashback for most people and most likely you get the TrueBlue points on top of that.

These are not great deals for now, but hopefully we see some higher denominations soon.
