Citi has a new targeted offer that was sent by mail for the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select World Mastercard. Earn 65,000 American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles after $4,000 in purchases in the first 4 months of account opening.
This is the highest offer we have seen on this card, 65,000 AA miles, but it also has a higher spending requirements. What makes this offer even better, it’s the fact that it doesn’t include the 24 month language.
Citi’s 24 Month Rule
Citi changed its rules last year and toughened up on churners, making it harder to receive bonuses. You can only receive a bonus if you haven’t opened or closed a card of the same currency in the last 24 months. The application for the CitiBusiness AA card usually has the following language:
This card is not available if the business already has a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select®World MasterCard® card. Bonus miles not available if you have had any CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card opened or closed in the past 24 months.
However, this targeted mailer doesn’t include this language, so if you received the offer you should be able to apply, regardless of when you last opened or closed one of these cards.
Citi Business Cards
You can apply for one Citi Business card every 95 days. These are counted separately from personal cards. But, if you’re applying for a business card using your SSN, then the system will automatically deny you if you have had two new cards (for the same SSN) in the last 65 days.
Citi also limits inquiries to 6 every 6 months.
Citi Business cards don’t show up on your personal credit report, so this card won’t count towards Chase’s 5/24 rule.
This targeted offer is the highest we have seen for the CitiBusiness AAdvantage credit card, but it does require $1,000 more in spending for 5,000 more AA miles, compared to the current public offer. Citi raised the public offers to 60K for $3K spend back in April. This new offer still makes sense, since you’re getting 5X AA miles on that extra spend.
What makes this offer even better, is that fact that it doesn’t have the 24 months restrictions. Another plus for this card is that Citi Business cards don’t show up on your credit reports.
