Access to Escape Lounges is the latest perk for American Express Platinum Card members. The partnership, which begins today, gives Platinum Card members complimentary access to Escape Lounge locations in the United States. Currently, Escape only has three such airport locations: Hartford, Conn.; Minneapolis/St. Paul and Oakland airports.
Escape Lounges are not affiliated with any one airline. The lounges are open to passenger on any airline, as long as they are willing to pay the entrance fee. Entry to Escape’s lounges in the United States costs $40 if booked in advance or $45 at the door. You’ll get most of the basic stuff you would expect at an airport lounge such as free Wi-Fi, food and beverage options and dedicated space to relax or work. While snacks and lighter meals are free, heartier options are offered for a fee. Some alcohol is complimentary but there is a charge for premium brands.
As an American Express Platinum Card member, now you just need to show your shiny metal card, ID and airline boarding pass. Card members may bring in two guests at no additional charge.
This will not be a reason to pay a $550 fee on the Amex Platinum card, but it adds some value for those who can take advantage of their limited footprint.
