After introducing some groundbreaking credit cards recently, Chase might be looking to enhance its existing credit cards as well. A customer survey hints at two possible new 5% bonus categories for the Chase Freedom card.
5% For Recurring Payments
Freedom is also considering making a new 5% category that would reward you for using your Freedom card for recurring payments, like your mobile phone bill, electricity, streaming subscriptions, and more. This category would also be in addition to the existing 5% categories.
5% On Digital Wallets
Freedom is also considering making a new 5% category that would reward you for using your Freedom card in digital wallets, such as Android Pay, Samsung Pay, Chase Pay, etc. This category would also be in addition to the existing 5% categories.
These new categories are not guaranteed to be added to the Chase Freedom card, but it is definitely a possibility. Most likely they will be capped. The digital wallet category loooks like a response to the new card announced by US Bank, the Altitude Reserve. We’ve also seen some spending offers for digital wallet from Discover and Amex in the last weeks.
