The offer comes and goes, but what’s special about this one, is that it doesn’t include the 24 month restriction on the application page.

Citi’s 24 Month Rule

Citi changed its rules last year and toughened up on churners, making it harder to receive bonuses. You can only receive a bonus if you haven’t opened or closed a card of the same currency in the last 24 months. The application for the CitiBusiness AA card usually has the following language:

This card is not available if the business already has a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World MasterCard® card. Bonus miles not available if you have had any CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card opened or closed in the past 24 months.

Application Rules

You can apply for one Citi Business card every 95 days. These are counted separately from personal cards. But, if you’re applying for a business card using your SSN, then the system will automatically deny you if you have had two new cards (for the same SSN) in the last 65 days. Citi also limits inquiries to 6 every 6 months.

Credit Report

Citi Business cards don’t show up on your personal credit report, so this card won’t count towards Chase’s 5/24 rule.

  1. Can you do this card if you opened 2 personal AA cards (no 24 language link) within the last 60 days (i.e., are the app rules different for the business card?) Or should we wait until after 65 days since the first one?

    • Took the dive and learned something new.
DP: Approved for Personal AA on 01/01 and 01/09. Auto-denied for this one. Probably over 6/6 (can’t remember). Called in to recon. I’m one of those ppl who did 2 personal AA apps (01/01 and 01/09). Because I used my SSN instead of EIN (prob most of us do), and because my last personal app was within the last 60 days, their systems auto declined me. They said that even though it’s a business app, their systems check the ID # (in this case my SSN) and found a match from the last 60 days. They didn’t run my CR though…. whew… i’m going to wait until 66 days from 01/01 to try again if the link is still up.

This suggests that business apps using your SSN will be autodeclined for 2/65.

      • I was just looking that up actually. Thank you for DP.

On r/churning OP said “This came via email to me and states that it expires in 20 days. So 3/15 or so”. So it should still be up.
