Ebay has changed the terms on the use of their gift cards and it’s not good news at all. It’s been a while that they stopped gift card rolling, buying eBay gift cards with eBay cards. And now you can’t use eBay gift cards to purchase any type of gift card at all. Here’s the new terms:
The Gift Card may not be used to pay eBay or PayPal service fees. The Gift Card also may not be used to buy eBay Gift Cards, third party gift cards, gift certificates, coupons, coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be “bullion” (for example, gold, silver, and other precious metals in the form of coins, bars, or ingots).
This is a big change which also came unannounced. It will especially impact gift card resellers but also people who purchased discounted third party gift cards with already discounted eBay gift cards, for better savings. You’ll have to find items that you need or that you can resell on Amazon.
What makes this worse is that eBay is applying this retroactively, which means that if you’re already sitting on a large amount of eBay gift cards, you won’t be able to use them on third party gift cards.
As of now you can at least use eBay Bucks to buy third party gift cards and lets hope that doesn’t change.
