This is an old post from 2015 when the card was first announced, but I’m reposting since there is a new working link to apply for the card. The link was posted on US Credit Card Guide, but I read about it at DoC’s post today. Besdies teh great sign up bonus this card will also be useful long term since it earns 3x ThankYou Points on online purchases at retail and travel websites. You also earn anniversary bonus points after $10,000 in annual spending so that should take care of the $95 annual fee if you put a lot of spend on the card. Read more about this offer here.
Citi and AT&T have announced a new co-branded card, AT&T Access More. The card offers a free smartphone and 3x rewards points for dollars spent on online purchases at retail and travel websites and purchases directly from AT&T. The new card is an addition to Citi’s existing co-brand card with AT&T, called AT&T Universal, which has fallen behind competitors in recent years and hasn’t been promoted.
The new Citi-AT&T card aims to revitalize the 17-year-old relationship between the two firms. Customers who apply and are approved for the card will receive a link to a specific website where they can use the new card to buy an iPhone or Android smartphone. They will receive a credit for the purchase up to $650 as long as they spend $2,000 on the card in the first three months.
WSJ reports that customers who receive the new smartphone must also have AT&T wireless service. The card carries no interest rate on AT&T purchases for the first seven months. After that, interest rates will range between 14.99% and 22.99% for all purchases, based on creditworthiness. The annual fee is $95 and not waived for the first year but there is a 10,000 points anniversary bonus after $10,000 in annual spending for those who plan to keep the card long term.
More details on the card are yet to be unveiled. It will be important to see if the purchased phone will have to be activated to receive the $650 rebate. If it could be resold, then the card would be much more interesting to those who are not currently in the market for a new smartphone. Also the 3x ThankYou Points on online purchases at retail and travel websites might be of great value.
