Free Shipping on VGCs at GiftCards.com

GiftCards.com is running a promotion where they’re offering free shipping on Visa Gift Cards. VGCs at GiftCards.com have a fee of $4.95 so $500 VGCs they will end up costing $504.95.

The good thing about these cards is that they can be customized and they come is a wide variety of designs.

The free shipping is available only when you select the USPS First Class shipping. It costs $1.99 per card, but it’s free with the promo code. Only orders up to $1,500 are eligible. You have to use the promo code FREEUSPS915 at checkout, after selecting the shipping method.

The VGCs that Giftcards.com sells are issued by Bancorp. These cards work with Redbird at Target but can also be used to load your Bluebird/Serve at Walmart. I tested them three days ago at a Kate in NJ and there were no issues. Trying to load them at Target locations in NYC might be a bit of a hassle, since they have “Gift” printed on the upper right corner and the Giftcards.com logo in the back. At every Target I’ve visited within the city, they’ve asked me for ID and a a bank issued debit card with my name on it. I’ve been turned away a few times, although I was successful in some occasions.

There’s also a reward program at Giftcards.com that makes the deal even better, but what I like about the site is that it makes purchasing VGCs much more comfortable.

With that said, there’s often issues with the site as they tend to cancel some orders a few hours after sending you a transaction confirmation. Another bad thing is that it will show up on your statement as Giftcards.com, so that might raise some flags.

From my experience, I’ve never been charged any CA fees, but it’s always best to set that limit to $0 so you won’t have any unpleasant surprises. I’ve used Chase, Capital One and Citi cards from what I remember.

Keep in mind that these have to be activated before you can use them. That can be done by phone or through their app or website where you’ll also be provided with a PIN.

  1. Speaking of NYC they worked great for me until they added the gift wording in the corner. CSR would assume they were debit cards and never questioned them as long as I had a matching ID. This was my main method for min spend. Now it’s hit or miss.

I haven’t tested them at walmart. There’s none close by.

  2. I have tried several times to purchase visa cards from giftcards.com but they always cancel my orders. I have tried with or without free shipping codes, different amounts, different CCs abd they always cancel them. I have stopped bothering with them.

If you’re able to actually purchase Visa cards then it’s a nice MS method.
